In most forum platforms you can mark a topic that you created so that the system will alert you via email on events that are related to that topic.

I like better the method in this here. You can instruct the system to alert you for new posts or replies in the entire Top Synergy forums (board), or just focus on a specific forum (such as Synergy Ring), or pinpoint to one or more topics that you want to keep a close watch on.

It is all done via the subscription method. You can subscribe to the entire board, one or more forums, or to one or more topics - whether you are active participant in those or not. Just look for the "subscribe to..." links. Unsubscribing works exactly the same way, only this time the link will show "unsubscribe".
