Quotes for Today:
- "My soul preached to me and said, "Do not be delighted because of praise, and do not be distressed because of blame.’
- ~Kahlil Gibran
- Accept everything about yourself--I mean everything, You are you and that is the beginning and the end--no apologies, no regrets. ~Clark Moustakas
- Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter, and those who matter won't mind. ~Dr. Suess
- A bird doesn't sing because it has an answer, it sings because it has a song.--Maya Angelou
- By your own soul, learn to live, and if men thwart you take no heed. If men hate you have no care.
- Sing your song, dream your dream, Hope your hope and pray your prayer. ~Parkenham Beatty
- Don't listen to those who say, "It's not done that way." Maybe it's not, but maybe you will. Don't listen to those who say, "You're taking too big a chance." Michelangelo would have painted the Sistine floor, and it would surely be rubbed out by today. Most importantly, don't listen when the little voice of fear inside of you rears its ugly head and says, "They're all smarter than you out there. They're more talented, they're taller, blonder, better looking, luckier and have connections…" I firmly believe that if you follow a path that interests you, not to the exclusion of love, sensitivity, and cooperation with others, but with the strength of conviction that you can move others by your own efforts, and do not make success or failure the criteria by which you live, the chances are you'll be a person worthy of your own respect.~Neil Simon
- True freedom and happiness lies in becoming independent of the good opinion of others. ~Wayne Dyer
Today's Positive Thought
The disease to please. We all have it to some degree, and to some degree it does no harm. I genuinely get a kick out of finding the perfect gift for someone, cooking for someone, making someone smile. Harmless, right? Where the disease to please becomes problematic is when it becomes a need- 'Everyone MUST like me, my work, my looks, my whatever.' This happens and we end up giving up huge chunks of ourselves to "make" someone else happy. The truth is, NO ONE can make someone else deep-down-in-the-soul happy, if that's not already inside them. When one's happiness depends on an external, ANY external, not only is it doomed, but we've handed our personal power to someone or something else. We must not get too caught up in the back and forth of outside commentary on ourselves and our works. There will always be some who appreciate us and what we do and others who disparage it. The ego is what gets caught up in this game of needing approval. The soul is wise, and knows that life is a balance of opposites. The soul itself can’t be affected by praise or blame. If you set your sights on doing the right thing instead of the easy thing, and, as Dr. Dyer said, "...becoming independent of the good opinion of others" your soul will naturally find that balance and you will find happiness and a peaceful heart.
Today's Mantra
I breathe in and recognize that happiness is an 'inside job' and is mine to choose...
I breathe out and release the need to give up parts of myself to please others.
I am both perfect and evolving in this very moment....
Namaste.

I do agree with you that there is nothing like the real thing, but what happens when the fear of human touch makes you run? I have not indulged in sexually relation for over 14 years, and...
