Intimacy one feels in a relationship can be described as openness toward another person and closeness to him/her.
Intimacy carries the comfort of sharing feelings, mutual respect and honesty, and a willingness to be vulnerable. The need for intimacy involves the needs for belonging and for the very basic human contact. Unlike commitment, which evolves gradually, intimacy can be sensed by one immediately upon meeting another person. However it continues to grow throughout the relationship. Q. What types of relationships require intimacy? A. Friendship and marriage are good examples to relationships that flourish on intimacy. Intimacy is also an important component in one's search for a consultant or mentor. Post your questions and comments below.

In relationship analysis, is intimacy used to calculate passion as it sounds like to me that sex can be built on intimacy so what is the correlation in relationship analysis between the two in terms off aspects and placements that are looked at?

Welcome aboard, curious77, and thank you for an interesting question.
Please read about the major aspects used to calculate the presence and strength of each quality in the about us section. The calculation of intimacy and passion are independent of each other, but if I was forced to point out some correlation between the two, it would have been a negated (reversed) correlation. Intimacy between two people often calls for similarity in characteristics and background since these are major contributors to one's ability to understand the other's position and sympathize with it. On the other hand, passion is often triggered by the natural attraction that we have to the foreign, unknown and mystical properties of someone who's very different from us. I hope that this answer satisfies your question. |
