New polls

Hi again Topsynergy

Seeing the poll on the home page brought to my mind an idea; would it be possible for members to start their own polls, about any and all interesting and fun subjects we think would be great to ask other members' opinion on? For fun, feedback and growth

What do you think?

Another great idea from the Dyane factory. On the other hand it brings to mind such question as:

Will all polls be of public interest, and should we moderate them or not;
Are we "allowed" to discriminate which polls will also feature on the home page;
How will the members be certain to design "objective" choices as answers;
Should we allow open-choice answers, i.e. are members that want to answer the survey but the "right answer" isn't there for them allowed to add more options.
And finally, do you already have a poll in mind?

Bottom line is: it's a great idea and there's no used to try and foresee how will the polls be implemented in real life. So... let's go for it. Will take me up to three days to set it up properly.

Any comments? Anyone...

and thanks so much for giving us this wonderful option to survey the opinions of other members

About the questions you posted above, you were way ahead of me, I only got as far as the idea...

Since you're the Admin, imo you should have the say over which polls merit the appearance on the homepage.

It would be interesting to have open-choice answers, I think they are often quite fun and fascinating. But can it be done or is it too much work?

About the polls public interest... that is a tricky one. I think that depends entirely on the members. Just came to mind, should the polls close after a while or stay open indefinitely?

To the question of designing "objective" answers; I have no answer

- but I would like to have faith that we can come up with them.

And finally, yes I have one poll in mind, I'll put it up there for you to see soon

Your wish is our command, Dyane. I think that we'll be able to come up with the open-choice poll in two-week time.

Keep coming up with your creative suggestions; this is the only way to develop a thriving community.
